BIO UPDATE

Vinny originally came from MO but came to rescue because the other dogs in the family were picking on him. He went into foster care and adopted but after 4 mos was returned due to no fault of his, it just was not the right fit.

Vinnie needs an active family that will take him for long leash walks or jogging or how about agility? He's game for any of that. He loves playing with toys especially balls! He'll play ball longer than you will but you must make him drop it first before you throw it again but when you are tired you must put the ball up or he'll destroy it. Vinnie will also chill if you are ready to settle down for the night and read a book or watch TV.

Children 12 and older are ok but he may be protective of his family if they have visitors so he will need to be taught that strangers are ok.

Our must haves for Vinnie are:

  • a fenced in yard is a must
  • another young, PLAYFUL female or young, PLAYFUL submissive male dog
  • Someone that works from home or is home most of the time to take him on those long walks and help with his energy level
  • no apartments, condos, high rises or shared walls
  • must be willing to let him sleep in bed with you or the children he LOVES the big bed

If you are interested in Vinnie please contact us with a little about your lifestyle, we want to make sure the next home is the last home for this sweet boy.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Mid-West. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding the importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply; it will take you to the application form.
