Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well but for now please look for dogs on your coast.
For your convenience we also have PAID TRANSPORT companies that are available for a fee to get "your" new addition to your area on a guaranteed date.
Thank you for your interest in a rescue!

BUD WILL NEED AN EXPERIENCED DACHSHUND OWNER........
Bud was adopted out to a family in Jan. 2007 in Mass. but was returned to SSDR because he was trying to be the boss of the household and ultimately snapped at one of the children. Bud needs a structured home where the rules are clear that he is not in charge - humans are! Bud's new owner would be kind yet firm with him so he understands he is not the boss.
In his foster home he has been quite the gentleman. He is housebroken, crate trained, quiet, very laid back and easy to care for. He walks GREAT on the leash and loves to go for walks. He sleeps on a dog bed at night next to "the big bed" and is happy there. He gets along fine with the other small dogs in his foster home.
His prior home had cats but he tends to pester them with constant barking. It takes a while for Bud to warm up to strangers - so a quiet, low-key home with NO KIDS or cats would be best. He is a gorgeous doxie boy that deserves a second chance for a forever home!
