UPDATE FROM SYDNEY'S FOSTER MOM:  Sydney has become a comical companion who loves to cuddle and watch TV.  Sydney is looking for a Mom or Dad who will cherish him for the sweet boy he is with few needs other than a warm lap, soft food and comfy bed.

BIO:  Say Hello to handsome Sydney!  This little charmer is sweet as pie and lives to love.  Sydney came to AADR from a shelter in South Carolina where he was turned in by his previous owner.  We can’t imagine why someone would give up this little guy, he is happy and currently healthy.  He came to us with a mouthful of rotten teeth and a terrible ear infection.  His ear is clearing nicely and he only has 2 teeth left after his dental.  He loves canned food and will eat softened kibble as well.  Sydney loves his foster mom and dad, loves to go for a ride and loves to snuggle with his foster siblings.  He is the first long-haired dachshund that I’ve had who loves to sleep under covers.  Sydney is currently accepting applications for a forever home.  The lucky family needs to hurry, he won’t be available long!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
