BIO: Must have fenced yard.

Angel recently came into rescue with AKC papers from a breeder in the South.  The sad story is that she failed to produce a litter for the breeder (profit to gain) so she was relinquished to rescue.

So, here we have this beautiful light cream girl with big brown eyes!  As you can see she is underweight and will hopefully gain some weight while in her foster home; if she ever slows down!  She is a VERY energetic, long, lean, petite little girl and VERY fast.  If she ever escapes, she will be gone in a flash.  She does go outside in a fenced in yard and will come when called, but if you try to go get her she will dart.  Oh, and can she jump!  She definitely needs a very tall fence, at least 6 feet tall.

She is working on becoming more comfortable being a dog and exploring her environment.  Angel loves to play with her toys and is not always willing to share.  Angel gets along well with all dogs in the house both big (Rottweiler) and small (Doxies).  She does get scared if they play too rough and is not sure what to make of it.

Angel is crate trained and will easily go in and out of it for comfort or to hide a toy.  She does sleep through the night but as soon as the sun comes up, she will bark to go out.

I am not sure how she would be with small children, but due to her unsocialized beginnings and timid nature, it is not recommended.  I would guess that adolescent age or older would be fine.  She has a very high energy level so I suggest a home that can meet her energy requirements. Angel is still very much a puppy.

If you fall in love with this little dream girl as I have and know that you can give her the special forever home and love she deserves, please fill out an application.

If you have any specific questions or concerns about Angel, please feel free to contact her foster mom at vettech_10@yahoo.com .

More about Angel.....VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
