BIO (Update 2/19/2017): Howdy everybody! My name is Bubby and I’m 10 years young! I live with 2 other doxies and 2 big dogs that are a special blend according to my foster mom. One of them is a pretty gal that looks a lot like me and the other 3 pupsters are guys. We all get along great and have from day one. I love to run when I'm outside but it's not unusual to find me soaking up some rays out on the deck or in the yard. Hanging out is really my favorite thing to do. Oh and there's a cat here too! At first I chased him a lot but my foster mom didn’t like that. I aim to please so now I just bark at him a little and wag my tail. He knows it’s all in fun.

I'm having a grand time in Tennessee at my foster home. I used to live with another human but something changed and AADR came and got me out of the shelter so that I could live in a home until someone gives me a new forever home. I miss my old place but I love everybody I meet, especially women. My foster mom says I'm very well-behaved and laid back. I know how to use wee wee pads but mostly I go outside to do my business. I don’t like cold weather or rain. That’s mostly when I use the pads.

I wasn't feeling myself one day and the good folks at AADR took me to the doctor’s house and found out that I have arthritis. Turns out there’s a pill for that and I take one every morning. Now I feel great and I’m good to go! You see, I was a pudgy little boy when I first came into rescue, weighing in at 27 pounds, but now I weigh 17 pounds! I still want to lose another 3 - 5 pounds but I’m already filling like a young pup again. I couldn’t have done it by myself though. I would eat everything I could get my paws on if my foster mom wasn’t watching over me. I would love to have a furever Mom to look over me like that!

My foster mom says I'm the sweetest boy and would make an excellent companion for a retired person or couple. I don't mind sleeping in a crate or on a dog bed. I just like to be covered up with a nice blankie. That's the doxie in me.  I think having a human all to myself would be fine with me but don't get me wrong because I don't mind sharing. Well, that is except for my food and treats, but that’s a given with us dachshunds. I like to play with squeaky toys too but I usually end up sharing mine with one of my foster brothers. He's crazy about them so I don't mind. He's just a kid.

Foster Mom here: Bubby is a very sweet senior and would make a wonderful companion for someone who likes to take easy walks in the park and spend a lot of time with him. He's fine with taking it easy at home just watching TV or listening to music. He loves a warm spot in the sun and settles down easily at night when I go to bed. Car rides are no problem for Bubby either. He truly does greet everyone he meets with a wag of the tail and a friendly bark. He will need to stay on his current diet until he gets to a healthy weight. He's getting there though and I have seen his energy level climb steadily since he got to Knoxville. He has lost 6 pounds since we first met. Please give this sweet guy a forever home. In return, he will love you for forever and a day!

More about Bubby.....WV

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
