BIO: Mary Kate is an energetic and sweet little girl. She is more active since her successful recovery from back surgery but will never be the kind of dog to take on walks. She enjoys walking around in the yard and lounging in the sun. At night she likes to snuggle under the covers but on occasion she sleeps on top of the bed surrounded by big fluffy blankets. During the day a fluffy dog bed with a blanket makes her very happy. She has the sweetest disposition and is a love bug too. Mary Kate is a talker and enjoys having a conversation with anyone willing to indulge her. She is a great constant companion and will follow you around the house vying for attention. She loves to chase other dogs as well as play with people. Her walk is slightly off kilter but that doesn’t prevent this active girl from being a normal dachshund. She is more than willing to play at a moment’s notice.
Mary Kate was dropped at a high kill shelter by her owner because she was having back problems. Once we rescued her, she had the much needed back surgery and physical therapy to help her recover. She has the ability to walk all on her own without any problems and still uses the outside to go potty Mary Kate is also trained to use indoor wee-pads as well.. She needs to be monitored so that she will not climb stairs or jump on furniture. Any activity that requires her to jump or climb is a huge NO-NO! Mary Kate is a very loving little girl with an enormous personality and will bring a ton of joy into your life. She would do very well in a home with people who are around during the day that can give her attention. She should go to a home that is mostly quiet and calm. She is a wonderful dachshund with a fantastic personality. Please consider giving little Mary Kate a second chance at a wonderful life.
