Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

BIO:

Meet Henry, an awesome little standard, dapple dachshund who will work his way into your heart in spite of being the 'bad boy' that he is. Henry is energetic to say the least. He lives to run, and that is exactly what he will do if given an opportunity. Henry has completed heartworm treatment, and having done so, has started going on morning jogs with my husband. He loves his morning run! Be very careful when opening an exit door, he will bolt like a flash of lightening. Running is a game to Henry, he does not understand dangers in the outside world. As long as someone will chase him or run with him, he goes full tilt. Henry can squeeze through 3-4 inch slats in any fence, and jump anything lower than 4 feet. His athletic abilities make him a challenge to ensure his safety.

Henry is a gentleman in every sense. He gently takes a treat from your hand, cuddles beside you when relaxing on a sofa or chair, seeks to be near you in the big bed at night. On waking in the mornings, he has the sweetest gentle kisses. He is pad-trained, but prefers an outside walk. He wants to go with you anytime you leave the home, and will cry if left behind. He has separation anxiety but is gradually accepting that he can't go every time the door opens. He loves to go for a ride, but needs comforting in the vehicle. Henry is extremely intelligent, and knows whenever you are talking about him. His eyes can pierce the depths of your soul. He loves unconditionally, and deserves the same. Henry is one of God's special creatures, he needs an experienced dachshund lover to appreciate his personality.

Henry has been to large gatherings at the local market and interacts with strangers well. He shows no aggression with other dogs, only friendly curiosity. He has alpha tendencies with other dachshunds and mutts in my home, but nothing major that can't be resolved within the pack. He loves to chase our cat, but only wants to play, not harm. He has not had the opportunity to interact with children. He has the softest fur, the most muscular build, and the most loyal personality.
