BIO:
Buddy came into foster care with two of his friends, Bobby Franks and Red. They were turned in as strays and believed to have escaped as breeder dogs. Buddy is underweight but has a good appetite. Buddy has a super soft coat and loves to be in your lap. He is very curious and is eager to please. He likes to go for walks and walks pretty good on a leash. He is learning his name and does come when called. Buddy likes to lay in the shade and just watch the world. If he sees something interesting it is time to investigate. Buddy has the sweetest eyes and loves to have kisses. Buddy will make someone a very good companion.
Buddy is a real snuggler once you get to know him. But he warms up to dogs more quickly than he does to people. He is very leery of new people however sometimes he's not………… and will go right up and lick a new person -- guess it depends on his Dachshund mood at the time.
Buddy is a funny guy he was born with his ribs curling in -- which makes his rib cage a little boxy -- after he gains a few more pounds you won't even see it as it is not that noticeable to begin with. We thought he had an enlarged heart, however after an EKG showing no signs of irregularity or heart disease and taking measurements of his heart and ribs from his x-ray -- his heart is the perfect size for him – Our vet has given him a totally clean bill of health. He will just always have a funny looking x-ray.
Buddy is so cuddly and his face and eyes are so expressive it looks like he almost has an eyelid as he has the most adorable creases just below his eyebrows. Buddy is still learning to walk on leash and he is not quite sure what toys are -- he seems afraid when we throw the ball, but is getting used to it a little bit at a time.
Buddy needs to go home with absolutely no cats. He has a very strong prey drive and can track down a cat a mile away. So far he has just stood and looked at the 3 kitties I his foster home but he has never “gone after” them however still not a good idea. Buddy hates to be in a crate Buddy will whine scratch cry and he can get out of a plastic crate by pushing the door open. If Buddy is to be crated for any period of time he needs a wire crate but it would be best for him to go home where he would not be crated at all or crated a minimum amount of time.
Buddy needs to go to a home with a fenced back yard so he can learn to fetch and investigate the world just look at that face -- how can you resist? But he wants a forever home is at home with you?
