Hi my name is Bella#11! I don’t know why they call me #11 but I’ll take it. What I do know is that I was put on Craigslist for whatever reason and this family took me for 2-3 months, they all run together, but they gave me up to the shelter 'cause I didn’t like their small kids. I know, I know, I should have been good but they weren’t nice to me so they sent me to the shelter. Lucky for me the shelter saw I was a sweet girl for people willing to respect my space and they didn’t euthanize me like the people that gave me up wanted to. They kept m in foster care for a while and contacted everyone they knew to take me, finally AADR said they would and here I am. I LOVE my foster mom, dad is ok too and all the foster dogs. I don’t know about cats and no to SMALL kids, but kids over 12 would be ok as long as they know to be nice to me! I love the outside and LOVE the doggie door. I’ll play with the other dogs too if they’ll play with me but mostly I love to lay in foster mom’s lap, and when foster dad is here I’ll lay in his lap too.
FROM FOSTER MOM:
Bella #11 is such a sweet girl but is cautious of new people until she knows they mean her no harm and that could be from past experience or abuse, we aren’t sure which. If her ears were a little longer and her ears a little shorter we’d say she’s all dachshund! She loves to sleep under the covers at night and sleeps all night long. She doesn’t have accidents in the house at all, walks on a leash like a dream, and is such a sweetie. If you are looking for a dachshund/MinPin mix or just a dachshund mix cause you know they typically don’t have the back issues that a pure bred does then well then Bella is the girl for you! The shelter was told she was six but after looking at her and her teeth we believe she is closer to 2-3. She’s had a fresh dental and all vetting is done and she is heartworm negative. What a great girl she is and you can’t go wrong adopting this girl. Ask foster mom if you want more info or better yet, apply today.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
