Hello!  Lyla here!  I just wanted to give an update on how I have been doing the past few weeks.  Everyone I meet wants to adopt me, even though it takes a few minutes for me to get to know them.  Once I am comfortable, I am playful, sweet and happy!  I am not a hyper girl as you might expect from my age.  Sure, I love to play with my Foster Brothers, but I also love to snuggle up with my Foster Mommy for a nice nap.  I really like to pester my Foster Kitties, but I’m getting a little better with that.

We go for walks every day it’s not raining and I am doing better and better at not barking!  My Foster Brothers are teaching me to just keep walking and enjoy the exercise and the view.  Sometimes I can’t help myself and I just have to bark.  I am very smart and know my name.  I am also treat motivated so if you would like to work with me there is no limit to what I could learn!  I go potty outside like a champ and I love to go for car rides.  There really isn’t anything not to love about me!  I am just adorable!

So, if you have another doggy I can play with, a fenced in yard and a nice warm snuggly lap, what are you waiting for???  Email my Foster Mommy!  You won’t be sorry!

UPDATE ON LYLA:

Lyla loves to play with other dogs and really needs to go to a home with another young dog to play with AND a fenced in yard!

Lyla was surrendered to rescue because she bit the resident 3 yr old child for hugging her too hard. For this reason we are saying no child under 10 yrs old and one that understands the boundaries of the dachshund.

We can say that Lyla loves her foster family and if the foster family was looking to add a dog to their family Lyla would be it. It takes her while to warm up to strangers but once she deems you ok then it’s all good! She loves to play with any of the fosters that will play with her but when a new one comes in she just has to let them know that she’s the boss. So for that reason she will have to either go to a family that has no other dogs, a submissive male dog or submissive female dog.

Don’t like the above scare you off…Lyla is a sweet funny little girl that has to go to a family that has a fenced yard, older kids and or a stay at home person.

Lyla is great at house-manners and loves to sleep in the big bed, under the covers.

Think about it…little, cute, housebroken, wow just what you’re looking for. Please understand that due to the fact that Lyla is so young she needs a younger active family to grow with.

More about Lyla.....GA

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
