My husband and I just discovered your website and were greatly impressed. We are the lucky owners of 3 mini doxies, all rescued. Max is 10 years old, black and tan, smooth hair, Snapple is 4 years old gray dapple, and Reggie, our baby, 1 year old, black and tan, smooth hair. We LOVE them all and truly, they rescued us! We would love to increase our family by one more Doxie in the very near future!!!!!

I too am in my golden years and lost my little melanie, sshe was 15,this year...An older dog is sooo much easier to handle when you're older yourself! She will forever be in my thoughts, but a friend of my son just gave me and my husband another dog. He is about a year old, part jack russell this time and he was called little man, but his name just didn't fit, so now he promptly comes to the name of Buster..What a joy he is ..he can throw his own bone, then go bring it to me..I can squeak his toy and he will come running, then there are lots of times I think he knows we are tired and he just naps with us..He loves to get his leash when it's break time and he nevers makes booboos in the house..I hope to see him get to his golden years, and I will love him every second..People need extra attention when age creeps up on them and so do animals..Adopt an older pet please..They can be amazing..Thank you for reading this and God bless...Oh yeah, Buster says "Hi" Lake Waccamaw sends hugs and tail wags your way

I adopted a 7 year old dachshund last summer. He is the most loving, sweet dog I have ever had. I have tried to learn as much about this breed as I can. He follows me everywhere I go and is always up in my lap and he howls everytime I leave to go somewhere. Is this common for these dogs to do this or is he just extra klingy? I go him from a no kill shelter and his foster mother I know kept him in a kennel all the time but I never do. I just let him go in and out as he wants to. I was just wondering. If you have any advice just please let me know. Thank You

Dear greetings from Spremberg in Germany, the story has really touched us with Sammy. Dachshunds are the sweetest and most beautiful.

We adopted Lil Bear, our Dorkie, through AADR on 11/7/2011. He is the sweetest, funniest little guy and we feel like he has always been a part of our family. He and our 7 year old female long-haired dachshund, Mariah, have bonded and are now “brother and sister”. Lil Bear is our second breeder rescue. Stetson, our first, passed away in September after a lengthy illness. Bear was very well adjusted….he loves all dogs and people. He is very easy going and loving and we contribute that to the wonderful AADR foster mother who took care of him for 6 moths until we got there to give him a forever home! Thanks to all who made our adoption possible. I can’t wait to become a volunteer and be a part of this wonderful group of people.

I think your organization is wonderful. We own a dachshund/mini pinscher named coco. She was a Christmas gift for our teenaged children two years ago. I never thought i would own a dachshund but she is our spoiled little girl. So loving and smart not to mention energetic lol! No person who has ever been around one of these beautiful sweethearts could ever even think of hurting them in any way. Keep up the good work!

Hi, I have rescued and adopted out many doxie's with a rescue organization out of TX. We recently moved to TN an brought three of them with us. We have cared for special needs including re-habilitation for one in a wheelchair. Gotta love doxie's. I am considering becoming a foster parent for doxie's now in TN. :-)

Good evening You recently acquired my Sacha becasue I was no longer able to care for her and it became very difficult for me. I love her dearly and I feel I failed her. I miss her terribly but I had to make the decision to let her go so she could be cared for with compassion and love. Thank you so much for accepting my Sacha. She is a sweet dog and she brought me great happiness and love.
