Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Kissy...PA

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I had the flu for the first 2 weeks that Kissy was with us. (Started the day I had to drive to pick her up!) So welcoming her into our family got off to a much slower start than I had planned. But now that I am well, we are having fun taking her for family walks and playing in the yard with her and Quincy (our other dachshund). They have warmed up to one another. They enjoy laying in the sun by the front door together. She is an absolute delight. She is happy to jump up on a lap and get comfy. ~Danya

Knox..MI
Knox..MI

Hello Angie, Sorry for the delay in responding...I am so busy fooling around with Knox (so many belly rubs, so little time) that not much gets done. Knox is settling in very well. He is funny and sweet and very energetic for an older dog Everyday just gets better as he becomes more at home with us. He is very playful, which we enjoy enormously.. the house is littered with dog toys now we have to watch were we step. He loves to go for walks but clearly is a southern gentleman...he does not like the snow or cold temperatures. Knox copes with this by lying on the warm air heat vents in the house. Curled up on a lap and wrapped in a blanket is also another popular coping mechanism. Knox is the perfect little buddy for us. We can't thank All American Dachshund Rescue and Kathleen enough for providing this wonderful service. By the way, our vet complimented Kathleen on Knox's health. Dr. Bell noted that Knox was in excellent health and condition...not something he sees very often with rescue dogs. Lloyd and I will send some photos in the next few days. Best, Janet

KENNY

(Picture of Kenny (on right)with adopted sister (Julie)) It has been a little over a month since Kenny has come home to us. He is such an amazing little guy and has brought so much joy and love to our family. Even though Kenny has special needs (he is deaf and blind) it is very hard to tell, he gets around the house and yard well. Within 24 hours he knew the layout. Kenny is a very busy boy. He goes to doggie daycare which he loves, he has made so many friends and the workers adore him. We think Kenny has become a mascot for our children's weekly lacrosse games, so many people know him and he barks when people are cheering on the game. He loves to go visit all four of his grandparents and loves going for walks on a leash. When Kenny is home he is usually playing with his brothers and sister, playing with his numerous toys, chewing bones, running around his backyard, laying in his window seat or his favorite past time...swimming in the pool with his family. As soon as his goggles and life jacket go on Kenny is like a torpedo in the water. He is so spoiled. He has his own wardrobe, complete with a bathrobe, coats for every season, many shirts, sweat shorts and swim trunks, a stroller for when he gets tired (which isn't often) and he gets a tremendous amount of love. Everyone who meets Kenny adores him, he seems to warm the hearts of everyone he meets. Kenny may have a chance to get to be seen by a veterinarian ophthalmologist from Cornell University. Our vet is trying to get him seen this fall. We want to have his vision checked and see if anything can be done to help Kenny's vision. Kenny has blessed our family, we look at him every day with the brightest smiles. He is a perfect addition to our family. Our family wants to thank the All american Dachshund Rescue for their thorough adoption process for these sweet dogs and for blessing our family with Kenny.

KENDAL...OR

Kendal is doing great! His weight is finally up where it should be, about 14 lbs, so he looks ood and healthy. We always get comments from strangers on what a handsome Doxie he is. He is fitting right in with the family and we love him like crazy.
