Happy Tales
Every one of these dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Shelby number 2....TN

Shelby is doing great. Since I have been walking him, and Millie every day, he walks more confident. At first he walked with his ears pinned back, and pulled.  Now he is more relaxed and enjoys the walk.

His first week he got me up 2-3 times during the night.  He was not use to being in the bed. He slept with his leash on, and I had it around my wrist.  I did that so if he went to jump off the bed I would feel the tug.  He now wants on the bed.  Millie now snuggles up with him.  She is also teaching him the house rules. No fights, just warning him.

Example... I was running the vacuum, Shelby was barking and biting at it. Millie ran up to him and barked.  He stopped and went and laid down.

I have also taught him to wait while I feed him.  He was woofing it down.  He now sits until I say okay.

He does not like to come all the time when I call him.  He will crawl and roll over.  He can be stubborn.  He is testing me. ha ha...

Soon I hope to have a pen so I can let him off the leash while outside.

He is now 11 pounds.

Sweetie....OH
Sweetie....OH

Sweetie is doing great, adjusting well to her new brother & sister and to her forever home! She is so precious and I love her so much already. She loves to sit with me on the couch to watch TV, and the four of us (Madison, Jefferson, Sweetie & me) all sleep together at night(she loves the electric blanket too)! I understand that she originally was rescued from Alabama(?), so I am sure she wishes she had been adopted in Florida, instead of Ohio, as our windchill is to be below zero. She has had her visit to the Vet where it was discovered that one of her dental flaps has come open, so a surgery will be scheduled to fix the flap. Poor little girl can't catch a break! Thank you so much AADR for allowing me to adopt this adorable "little old lady", and may you all be richly blessed in your efforts to save this wonderful breed!!!

Stephanie.....MI

She is doing great,  we love having her here & so does Chloe,  they are becoming fast friends

Skyler....TN

Skyler is doing great!!!

Sammy number 5....TN

Sammie is wonderful!  He has settled in really well.  Everyone loves him!  His favorite spot on the sofa with his toy.  He is a character - my older daughter has decided he should be named Teddy - short for Theodore Roosevelt, because he looks quite aristocratic, he likes getting his own way, and he will rule us all soon!

Thank you for letting him into our lives,
Hilary
