Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Wendy...FL

We got this picture of Wendy from her forever home! She looks like she is living it up!

Wrangler...AL

We just got this update on Wrangler! Looks like he is riding pretty with his forever brother Fritz!

Wizard...MI

Thank you for asking for an update on my recent adoption of Wizard a.k.a. Izzie. Yes, I have changed her name because everyone assumes she is a he. She has been a delight from the moment the transport volunteer placed her in my arms. I am glad I adopted an older dog. Izzie will be 10 the end of April. She is bright eyed and full of love. All she wants is a soft place to cuddle either with a family member or her new little sister, Gracie, who is 6. Gracie and I are a handler/dog team with Therapy Dogs International. Izzie has such a gentle nature and she is quick to learn so I am hoping she will be able to join us soon on our visits to a locate assisted living facility we visit twice monthly. In the first picture I am giving Izzie her daily brushing. That is Gracie on the back of the chair. In the second picture my girls are getting ready for their afternoon nap together. Izzie is on the right, Gracie on the left. The third picture is a close up of Izzie in the Michigan snow. She is a long way from Arizona. The last picture is Izzie talking about the good life. I would like to encourage the dachsie lovers out there to consider adopting an older dog. They are so full of life and love and deserve a loving forever home. Thank you, Hazel O., Gracie and Izzie

Willow 4...MD
Willow 4...MD

Willow is doing great, she has adjusted very well, she loves sleeping late in the big person bed and loves to snuggle, and we are working on her obsessive licking and she is getting better with this. Our other dachshund, Barney loves her a well, he just needs to learn to share the toys, even hers. The only issues we have had are learning where and when to go potty, despite me taking her out several times a day in the beginning she would hold it to come in side, but i think she is getting a hold of the idea now. So far so good, here is a picture of her and barney (barney was a sudo rescue from a family who was looking to down size the number of dogs they had) Thank you for checking up on her
