Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Millie Jean is doing great, she has taken up golf with David and is a social butterfly!

Mia...TN

My name is Anthony from Memphis, Tennessee, and I am the proud "Daddy" of this sweet, beautiful, affectionate, and loving little mini-doxie named "Mia." I believe the Holy Spirit sent her to me because she came such a long way --- all the way from far up North, in Vermont & New York --- down to me here in the "Land of the Delta Blues." On August 25, 2013, I met a two-person transport team in Jackson, Tennessee where I first met Mia, and it was love at first sight between her and I. Immediately, this little girl ran up to me and when I started to pet her (with no hesitation, shyness, growling, or barking) she rolled over and let me start rubbing her tiny tummy. She loves playing with her over-abundance of toys which practically litter all the floors of my home now. Suffice it to say, I have and love to thoroughly spoil this baby dachshund.

Mia is now 3 years old and doing marvelously. She enjoys our frequent visits to the dog parks; has two Australian Cattle Dog "cousins" of my mother's who she visits at least once a month and loves to play with; goes on 4 times weekly jogs with me; and generally loves and has adapted so well to all of my family and dear friends. My life would be lacking a special joy if I hadn't adopted this sweet, special dog. In other news of note, Mia recently placed 3rd in the Annual "Running of the Wee nies," an event that is part of an annual suburban festival specifically for dachshunds in the Memphis area.

She has made several trips with me to Cullman, Alabama; New Orleans, Nashville, and even felt the sand of the beach in Seaside, Florida beneath her little paws. I wish to send out a special "Thank You & God Bless you!" to Mia's foster prior to my adopting her. Her name is Angela, and she is an incredible person who clearly loved Mia so dearly and even thinks of her to this day. I appreciate you're taking care of this baby dog who now has brought such joy in companionship into my life! In closing, let me say that AADR is incredible in all their endeavors to "save one until there are none. Mia was certainly worth saving! Be sure that I'll continue to shower her with an abundance of love for as long as I am able.

Mozart...MI

As you know we had a terrible winter this year, but it did not seem to phase him one bit. We bought him the warmest coat we could find. Now that it is summer, he is really enjoying the outdoors. He loves to sit at the fence and bark at people coming by. You are right though he is a follower. He has calmed down a lot. He was circling the house for weeks and now he just circles when it is dinner time. He loves that time of day. We enrolled him in a training class and he passed with flying colors. He was the smallest dog in the class. Most of the dogs were the size of a Great Dane. He shook through the whole class, but did very well. He does love going on our pontoon boat. My husband and I love him very much. I have attached the pictures of him. Hope they put a smile on your face. Thanks for all your help and support. We just love your organization. Hope you had a great 4th of July.

I want you to know that Misty is doing well and has adapted well to our home. She is active, and is no longer afraid of us. She wags her tail and will allow us to pet her. She is still shy when out comes to new people, though, but she is slowly getting better. She is very spoiled. I will try to send pictures when i can. I am out of town for work right now, but will be home soon. Thank you and AADR for all that you do for these amazing dogs. Misty has been a true blessing to my wife and I, and it was all possible through the work of AADR. Thank you again!!
