BIO:

Hi!! My name is Lucy.  My foster mom asked me to take a few minutes to tell you about myself.  I am 10 years old and she tells me that I am the sweetest little girl ever.  I am happy in my foster home now but for the first few days I was very sad and confused.  You see, I had one daddy for all of my 10 years and I loved him very much.  Foster mommy tells me that she can tell that he loved me too.  One night, daddy made a mistake and now he isn’t home to take care of me anymore.  I don’t understand why daddy didn’t come home but my foster mom and dad tell me that I will have a new family and daddy very soon.

I am a very good girl!  I am housebroken (once I’m not scared), crate trained and love to snuggle up with the humans in the house.  I love to be outside so a fenced in yard would be really great!  I am starting to play with my furry foster brothers and sisters.  I was an only dog for my first 10 years so I am ok being alone but I do like having other dogs around too.  I do get a little bit food aggressive so if I am going to have a furry sibling, I will need continued help to learn that sharing food is ok.  I love to ride in the car and go for walks in the pretty new harness my foster mom bought me.  I can be chatty sometimes, especially when someone new walks past the yard or I hear a sound that I don’t recognize.  I am just trying to warn my foster family of any danger!  I have a 11-year-old human foster brother and I really like him!  So, foster mom thinks I will be ok in a house with kids that know how to treat me nice.

I really want a new home that will love and adore me like my last one did.  I really, really would like a daddy that will spend time and snuggle with me.  I love my foster mom too but foster dad makes my eyes light up and my tail go crazy.

Foster mom here: Lucy is a sweet little girl.  She has had a hard few months and would love to find a forever home where she can live for the rest of her life.  She loves every one and would be a good fit for almost any home.  If you think that Lucy would be perfect for your home or you have questions about her, please do not hesitate to contact me at dneely021613@gmail.com!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
