BIO:

Update 7-11-14:

Scooter is the poster dog for unconditional love. She looks at you and your heart melts. You will want to scoop her up and hug her. Scooter is happy to be in her bed, on the floor close to you anywhere you are working in the house, and especially cuddled up next to you on the couch or in your chair. She waits for permission to jump into your space.
She looks forward to short walks and being outside in the yard for short times of exploration.

Scooter lives alongside male dogs well yet prefers not to be around female dogs.

Please consider adopting this beautiful, dapple girl for your home. She is looking forward to having forever home soon.

Must go to someone that is retired or home most of the time. will come with big bag of Science Diet CD dry that she eats will last a L-O-N-G time!!! This dog food is no more expensive than the high end dog food that most people feed. Please do NOT let this be the reason you don't adopt as she is a wonderful sweet dog. Just wants a forever home.

Scooter came from a family when the owner died. She is very attached to her foster mom and follows her everywhere in the house and sleep in the big bed at night.

She did have bladder stone surgery, and has to be kept on Science Diet CD dog food to keep the crystals out of her urine.

She uses the doggie door like a champ and is a happy happy girl. Scooter needs a home to live out the rest of her life and not be homeless any more. If you are willing to give Scooter a home please let her foster mom know. She will be your companion and your best friend. She’s good with strangers and other dogs but NO cats!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
