BIO:

Comet was one of 5 dogs that were dumped at a shelter in Boaz, AL from a breeder. Comet is a shy boy but very sweet. We are working on getting him over his shyness and the only thing that can do that is handling him and showing him love. He’s wants very badly to be the pet he is supposed to be, with your help and love he can become a great family pet. Would you commit to helping him? He didn’t deserve to be dumped but that could have been the best day of his life because from there it’s nowhere but up for him.

Comet loves to be outside so a fenced yard would be best and another dog for him to learn from.

He has not yet been leash trained but we’ll work on that.

Look at his face, look at those eyes how can you say no to loving him, please give him a home!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
