Hoss needs to go to a strong Alpha figure and no cats but fine with other dachshunds.
I know what you are thinking: Another black and tan male dachshund! But you haven't met Hoss. He is loaded with personality and charm. The way he looks you right in the eye when you talk to him, he acts as if he totally understands. At times he even talks back!! Hoss came from AL where he was surrendered by his owner when he became over protective of an ill elderly family member. We're really not sure of the whole story, and he hasn't been tested with kids, but this much is for sure, Hoss is a wonderful happy boy whose tail never stops wagging. He gets along with all his foster brothers and sisters. He loves squirrel "hunting", playing, and keeping a lap warm on a cold winters night. If you could give Hoss his new forever home, you will never be sorry. He will repay you with a "tail waggin, I'm so happy to see you, unconditional love". If you would like make Hoss your special friend, please fill out an application and indicate Hoss as your favorite.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
