Bella #7...AL

UPDATE ON BELLA: Hi, and thanks for checking in on Bella. She has been adjusting very well to her new life. She is such a smart girl and shows me some new talent on a regular basis. She has found her place (in her mind, at the top!) and become a great older sister to Simon. She has taught him a great deal about play and pack rank and seems to enjoy her interaction with him. She was trained to go outside within a week, and follows whatever instruction I give. She has also adapted well to family and guests, and is so affectionate and loving with her "people". I gave great thought to adoption and had many concerns about how she would get along with Simon. I am so happy to say my fears were unfounded. I feel Bella coming here was meant to be and I look forward to many more years with her. FIRST REPORT: Thought I would let you know how Bella's settling in. The first night she was very reserved. She did want up on the bed but was very restless. We have had accidents in a couple of places, but she is catching on very quickly to potty training rules. She will come up the stairs but refuses to come down them. We're working on that as well. Within a day she was wanting to snuggle with me and began playing with Simon. Simon is learning he has to move quicker than he's used to when I put a treat in both of their bowls. She does bark when someone new comes in, but quickly settles down. My two granddaughters came for several days' visit last week; in two days they were all sleeping in the same bed. As she has become more comfortable she plays for extended periods with Simon. When she's had enough of him she will sometimes go into her crate for a rest. Had her first vet visit on Friday. She got an overall good bill of health. She does have an ear infection which is being treated. I had so many concerns regarding bringing a new dog, particularly an adult, into my and Simon's home. Bella has so far been such a wonderful addition to our family. I know she has been through many changes in a very short time. I look forward to her coming to love her new home and family and to having a long and comfortable life with us. ~ Joy
