BIO: Malibu came from a shelter in southern Alabama, left at the gate in a box. She was terrified, and we were contacted and pulled her into our rescue. Nothing but the good life from here on out baby!!
Our wants for her include:
- Adopted into the southern states only because she needs warm weather to walk to get this weight off her
- A fenced yard
- Another small dog for her to pal around with, small dogs only
- No apartments or high rises
- No young kids since she’s scared of them!
- Men in the house need to be patient with me as I'm timid with them more so than women
I'm very sweet! I know because my foster mommy says so all the time. I'm looking for somebody who will love me forever and work on a little problem I have. I'm a bit chunky! I need someone who will take me on walks and be patient with me. I get tired and need to stop for a second or two and then continue my walk. I really do enjoy getting out. I've already started losing weight. My foster mommy is very good at watching my diet She explained to me that it is very important I continue to lose weight. We Dachshunds have a problem called IVDD (invertebrate disc disease): If we get too heavy our backs go out and we then can become paralyzed in the back. It can cost over $14,000 for the surgery! So I need someone to love me lots and take me for walks and watch my diet.
I love belly rubs and I love all my babies (stuffed animals). At night I am all about being tucked in and I sleep all through the night in my comfy bed .Mommy calls me a snuggler! I also love bubble baths, I had one the other night and the hair dryer doesn't bother me either. I get along with other small dogs but I'm true Dachshund and don't like big dogs at all. If there's a forever dad out there for me, please know I'll love you, but you won't be my favorite - no offense! Also, in my mind I'm a big time squirrel hunter!! Well, if I sound like the perfect dog to fit into your family, please fill out an application!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
