BIO: After having Hank in the foster home with Beans and seeing how well they get along and always playing and laying together we just can't separate them. So, we are taking a leap of faith and hoping that someone wants to adopt two and have an instant family. These two are like two peas in a pod. Hank has been good for Beans because he is so social and Beans is more reserved. What do you say? Want to take that leap?
Hank came from East TN when his owners could no longer keep him. This boy is full of puppy energy and needs an active family and small, young dog to play with in your fenced yard. (This is a must). Hank loves everyone but does have a bad habit of jumping so that would need to be worked on. He loves to play ball, but his favorite is the "zoomies" out in the yard with another dog fast on his heels.
When he finally crashes, he crashes hard and will sleep soundly for several hours but it only takes another dog to get him ready to go again. If you love that puppy energy and are up for having and keeping up with that energy level, then fill out an application but please no couch potatoes this boy is too full of energy to sit on the couch and watch the world go by.
Our must haves for Hank are:
- A fenced in yard
- Another young small dog for him to play with and hang with (Beans)
- Someone that can be home or work from home
- No apartment, high rises, or condo
Don’t think about this pair too long they'll be gone before you know it.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
