BIO: Buddy is the PERFECT Dachshund in so many ways! He has beautiful red hair and the body of a pure breed. Buddy is attentive, loyal and loving. He is the right dog for someone to cuddle with but also full of energy and counts on his daily walks and romps in the yard. He is also fine sitting or laying on the couch and on his floor-bed near you, and of course at night he would rather be in the bed with you but he does not smother you. He stays at the bottom of the bed, curled up and asleep. If you give him a blanket he will nest. He likes to be able to see you but is comfortable being in a room without you also. As with most Dachshunds, Buddy attaches to his owner rather quickly. Buddy knows his name and a few minor commands. He will sit and he will stay and when you tell him to come to you, he does. He loves to answer to your whistle also!
This beautiful pup's paperwork says he is six but he does not look six nor is his energy of a six year old. His bark is young! After your walks he is ready to take a rest. Mostly all good points with this handsome guy. He is a Dachshund so he had an accident when he first arrived, but none since. If you get him on a schedule he is fine but he does take a bit to sniff out his spot. Good food twice per day is his current schedule. As I do not have another pet I can't talk about aggressive food behavior but I think he will be okay. When he meets another dog outside he is happy and wants to sniff but then he's done. Not a mean bone in his body. Buddy is not really into toys, at least none that I have. He does perk up when he hears a squeak but isn't into ball chasing. Peanut Butter in a KONG toy though and he is a happy fella. Just on a personal note... I would keep Buddy if I could. That is how perfect he is! He deserves only the best of the best in Forever Homes and that is what we will get him. (Note: he does not like crates so I don't use one so he has been left alone with no damage to house)

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
