BIO:  Hi! The rescue hasn’t give me a name yet because the rescue is having a puppy naming contest and whoever wins my picture will get to name me... I can hardly wait to see what it’s going to be!

I am brown with a black mask, some white on my chest and I have a short tail like my momma, she’s a black and tan smooth coated standard but she gave me her tail!

Mom and my 4 other sisters and 4 brothers were all dropped at a shelter in central Alabama. The shelter wanted us to have a chance to find the pot at the end of the rainbow so they contacted rescue and here we are. We love it here, but we want our own homes. I’m a sweet little girl, a wee bit shy, but I’m all puppy. AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
