BIO:  Hi, my name is Sophie! I am a really young lady at 2 or 3 years, the rescue is not sure exactly. At my young age I already have specs of gray hair, foster mommy says that it is due to the terrible life that I had before being rescued.  They think that I have been abused mentally and physically. I came by way of Missouri where the couple that had me was getting a divorce and neither wanted me. The man got me and he put me outside and basically ignored me. A Good Samaritan rescued me and it would have been a great home except she had toddlers and I am very scared of children and loud noises. To get away from them I stayed in my crate all the time. The lady felt that I should have a better life than that and she got in touch with the rescue and they took me in.

Now foster mommy says that it is time for me to find my very own furever home. Did I tell you that I am really scared of kids and loud noises? I will need a home that does not have kids and the noise level is relative calm. So now that we got that out of the way let me tell you a little about myself to see if I will be a great fit to be your next best friend.  I am housebroken and do my business outside and I have a pee pad to use during the day if I need to while foster mommy is at work. I like for someone to go outside with me to potty to praise me for doing such a good job.  I love to go for walks with my 2 foster sisters and I try really hard to stop and smell the roses along the way. But foster mommy is having none of that! She says that we can’t stop every few feet to smell around.

Oh, and I love doggie toys! I like gathering them up and hoarding them in my doggie bed, good thing my foster sisters are seniors and don’t play with them. I am crate trained but foster mommy says I should only go in my crate at night. I love to snuggle on the couch with my person under my blankie or if you are busy I will want to be where you are. I love my doggie food and like all doxies I will try and eat everyone else’s, so if there is another doggie in the house, I will need to be watched. Foster mommy says that I will need a really special home that will continue to work with me and make this my last home. She thinks that I am really special and the sweetest thing ever and on top of that really beautiful!

So if you think that I would make a great addition to your family, please go to All American Dachshund Rescue and fill out an application. You can email my foster mom and she can tell you all about me. I will love you and give you lots of doggie kisses!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
