BIO:

Due to Monty's popular color we will be looking for a spectacular home for him!

Monty is an adorable English Cream long-haired Dachshund who loves to play! Monty was surrendered to our rescue because his owner could not house-train him. However, turns out the problem was not with Monty but just his bladder – Monty has been diagnosed with cystitis (bladder inflammation). When untreated, this caused him to get lots of urinary tract infections. Since he has been treated and started on special food, he has done a great job with house-training.

Monty’s diagnosis means he will need to be fed Science Diet c/d food ONLY for his entire life. He cannot be fed any other type of food or treats. His “treats” are a piece of his regular dog food. This doesn’t get him down though – Monty is a very happy and playful boy! He LOVES to play with kids, other dogs, and toys. In the past he has had a tendency to get over-stimulated when there is too much going on, so he would be best in a calm environment with only a couple furry brothers or sisters. Although he loves to play all day long, by nighttime he has worn himself out and is comfortable sleeping through the night in his crate.

If you are looking for a sweet and playful little Dachshund to add to your family, Monty is the dog for you! Monty can’t wait to meet you and be a part of a forever family!

If you have questions about this handsome young man, please contact his foster mom, Adrienne, at acm04003@gmail.com.

More about Monty.....MD

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
