BIO:
Hi everyone, Murphy here! AADR rescued me from animal control after I was separated from my people, and I was SO relieved! That’s no place for a sweet guy like me! My foster mom tells me that I am extra special, and I tend to agree. I’m handsome, slim and trim, have beautiful shiny hair, and a winning disposition. I get along great with people and like to snuggle in a lap, but always wait to be asked to share your space. I also like to sleep in the big bed but prefer being on top of the cover with my own blanket.
I get along great with my four foster sisters, and like to play with the frisky one. I look and act much younger than my age. I really like to go outside and have been hot on the trail of a tree frog in my foster mom’s yard, although I’m really not sure what I would do if I caught it. You see, my teeth were in really bad shape when AADR rescued me, and I lost all but 4-5 when the doctor cleaned them up. It really doesn’t bother me now though. I can eat most anything as long as it’s soft, and my breath smells a LOT better!
I have not had a single potty accident in the house! I do great when taken out on a schedule, and will ask to go out if I have an urgent need. I probably would do really well with a doggy door and fenced yard.
If you are looking for a little fellow who’s affectionate without being needy, loves life, and LOVES to go for rides in the car, I’m your man!
If you have any questions or want to hear more about me, please contact my foster mom, Mindy, at mhjenkins09@gmail.com.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
