BIO:

Naomi is a very sweet little girl with lots of energy. She has just been spayed about two weeks ago and has healed very nicely, and had her teeth cleaned. Naomi was given a clean bill of health. She loves to go for walks and is learning to walk properly on a leash. Naomi also is in the process of learning commands. She is definitely motivated by treats.

This adorable little girl loves everyone she meets and adores belly rubs and snuggle time! Naomi is quite a character with toys, loves anything that squeaks, especially small tennis balls, and she is good about bringing them back!

I have two doxies of my own (two little boys), she plays very well with them, and is also very gentle and sweet with both. She is not food aggressive, has no problem if you touch her food bowl when she is eating, and waits patiently as treats are being passed out. This little girl was a surrender due to moving where they could not have a dog. She was not abused or treated badly.

Due to her exuberance and jumping it would be better if a younger person with a fenced yard and another dog adopts her. She does tend to get underneath your feet from time to time but she is calming down with teaching. Naomi is looking for her forever mommy and daddy to settle down with and say “I’m Home!”.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
