Hi, my name is Snickers I am looking for my furever home! So let me tell you a little about myself so you can see if I will be your next best friend. I was found in Franklin, TN as a stray wandering around an apartment complex and the dachshund rescue took me in. It was a great day when I was rescued since it was really scary out there in the world by myself. They found when I was being vetted that I was already microchipped and that I came from SC. My owners had not changed the address on my chip when we moved and I was lost. I was well taken care of before so I act and look younger than the great age of 11. Please do not let my age scare you... we dachshunds live to be a great age. There are still a lot of good years left!

My foster mommy says that I am one of the cutest, sweetest, most loveable and friendliest dogs ever! I love everyone and get along great with my foster sisters and I have meet cats and even they are not too bad. I am housebroken, leash trained and crate trained and love to cuddle on a lap... what more could you ask for I am just about prefect! Even though I am a little older, I still love to play with toys and explore the outdoors. I would really love a fenced in yard at my new home, and if there is not another dog it does not matter. That way I will get all of the attention! Did I tell you that I really love attention?

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
