BIO:
Hi, my name is Jules, also known as Julee by my Foster Mom! I was surrendered from a small puppy mill in North Carolina. Before I was surrendered to AADR, I didn’t know anything outside of living in a kennel with cement floors and minimal to NO human contact. My little paws never touched the ground, felt grass, or snuggled in a warm blanket or a human lap. People scare me right now, so I am very skittish.
I have been with my new “Foster Mom” since September 22nd. I have learned to sit and wait when dinner is ready. I get so excited – I do spins around the room. I never realized how much fun eating could be! Every evening when the sun goes down, Foster Mommy lets me cuddle on her lap with the others and snuggle in the warm blankets (ummm... it feels so good and I know I am safe).
Although I didn’t know a life beyond a puppy mill, I am learning and experiencing many things in my new foster home. I sleep in the BIG BED with a warm blanket and my Foster Mom. I can sit while I’m waiting to be fed out of a doggie bowl and I even enjoy eating dog food. I am starting to develop friendships with my other foster four-legged buddies. I am learning to play tug of war and play with doggie toys. I like snuggling with everyone on my foster mom’s lap while winding down for the evening.
I really don’t like going outside, especially if you want me to put my little paws on the cold grass. I am not housebroken and I really don’t understand why I can’t pee/poop anywhere I want to. I won’t let anyone pick me up unless they swaddle me in a blanket - I just don’t like the feel of human hands touching me. Once I get on a human’s lap I feel more relaxed and I enjoy being petted and I even give out doggie kisses once I get to know you. I love treats and am food motivated. I have no food/fear aggressions, no submissive urination, nor any separation anxiety.
AADR wants what’s best for me, so they feel ONLY experienced Dachshund families should apply. I need a family who understands taking care of a little doxie who came from a puppy mill. I need a family who is patient and will help me learn my social skills, teaching me all the “doggie” things I need to learn. I will need time to feel safe in my new home. I really will do well with another young Dachshund who will help show me how to be a good family pet. A fenced yard will allow me to learn how to run around and enjoy the grass and dirt beneath my feet. Open your heart and home to me and I will learn to love you and be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER given the chance!
If you have questions or want more info, just contact my Foster Mom at cherie554ever@gmail.com. She will be happy to tell you what a great little girl I am. I’ll be waiting!
=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
