BIO: She would do best with a fenced in yard.

Star is as sweet as sugar! She just needs a little time to warm up to you and then she becomes your shadow. You move = she moves; she does not like being alone for a second. She's a total lap dog and loves to cuddle. She doesn't have any food aggression and takes treats very gently. She walks great on a leash and does well in the car. She likes to sleep in and doesn't even wake up to go potty until 6:00 am.

She gets along with other dogs, but doesn't really play. She enjoys playing with toys, especially squeaky ones, but she'd rather be with her human than play. She would do great with a fur sibling. I think she would also be okay being the only pup, ONLY if the person is always with her. I can see that she would have terrible anxiety if left alone.

She will bark, but only when provoked. She's puppy pad trained. Star doesn't do well with new people... she was shaking in my lap the entire time my friend was here and we were talking. She needs a nice peaceful, quiet home to share her love with.

Please email me at aadrpresident@gmail.com if you have any questions about sweet, little Star!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
