BIO:

Do you need help with laundry?  Well, Tika can help.  She’s an expert!  She’s a friendly little girl who's just a little shy when she first meets you, but that soon goes away when you show her a little love.  She was dumped at a shelter along with her brother Ren, and we believe her daddy, with just a note attached saying, “we can’t do this anymore”.  So just like that, three dachshunds were homeless, but AADR is committed to finding them the best home so they won’t be homeless ever again.

Tika is rather long-legged but that’s a good thing because she won’t suffer from back issues like so many shorter legged cousins of hers.  But with that said, we think she’s not all dachshund.  She could have some Min Pin in her, but either way she’s a sweet, sweet girl and she deserves a great home.

We want a fenced in yard for her and another younger dog for her to buddy up with.  She’d be fine in a crate for up to 4 hours but we feel that’s about it, unless you can let her out for an hour before putting her back in again.  And if you crate during the day, we don’t want her crated at night.  We feel that’s too much crating for any dog.

This little girl is so sweet and we’ll try to get more pictures of her so you can see more of this adorable girl!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
