BIO:

I am Jack’s foster mom, Celeste.  I have had Jack in my home for 2 weeks and he has already stolen our hearts!  He is the most pleasant, sweetest, loving little man!  I have fostered a lot of dogs, and I must say he is one of my favorites…personality plus.  That tail goes a mile a minute! Oh, and he follows you around.  He waddles when he walks and when he runs its kinda sideways.

I won't say, and never do, that he's 100% house trained.  He is with me, but with the transition you don't know.  So, no guarantees.

I have 3 pups of my own and he gets along well with them.  He doesn't play much.  He loves to snuggle and follows me around, I move - he moves.  He loves curling up in one of the wicker, low, wash baskets with plenty of blankets.  He must have been taught not to be on furniture.  If you pick him up, he snuggles in.

Jack sleeps in a crate at night only because my pups do.  He doesn't fuss at all.

Cats, he could not care less.  Jack does not care for children although he is warming up to my grandchildren (7/8 years old).  They are too loud for him and too busy.  Older children are okay.  Should you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you for reading about Jack, he is wonderful!

Jack and I hope to hear from you soon!

PLEASE READ JACK'S MESSAGE:

Hey, Jack here!  I came from around Birmingham, AL where I was surrendered to another small rescue because they said that one of my owners died and then two months later my other owner died.  I was living in the home with 2 other doggies but don’t worry, they got out too.  I wasn’t feeling very well when AADR took me so they took me to the vet and I had a thing called pancreatitis.  They got me back on my feet again but because of that experience, the vet seems to think I will be better off eating and staying on Science Diet ID.  I need water added to soften it.  But now that I’m feeling soooo much better, I’m the happiest boy in the world!  I’ll just lay and wag my tail ALL the time.

I get along with young and old dogs and I like all people.  I would love a fenced-in yard since I enjoy romping around and sunning myself, and another pup around my age to hang with, can you do that for me?  Oh, and did I tell you I like to wag my tail?  It goes a mile a minute!  I had a dental and lost about 8 teeth, but they said that wasn’t bad for my age and considering my teeth had been neglected for a while, so we add water to soften up my food, no big deal.

I really want to find my last home.  I don’t want to move again so please consider me.  I’m a handsome dude and would love to grace your lap when you have down time but also, I’m happy just hangin’ when you are busy.

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
