BIO:   Stewart is one of those dogs that just captures your heart!    First, he is really handsome.  He is also a very chill gentleman, who gets along with all of the dogs in the house and visitors as well.   It has taken a bit of time for him to open up.   He was surrendered to AADR after spending all of his life with his mother and 3 littermates.   His foster dad thinks that he has been very confused but has been opening up and showing his personality, which is super sweet and affectionate.   He was taken to the local dog park the other day and did really well.   He has the most funny way of telling you that he wants attention and that is when he stands up on his back legs and stares at you...refer to the pictures, it is hilarious!

Stewart has not had an accident in his crate.   All potential adopters need to know that when you are out of the house you definitely need to put him in his crate.   He will chew on door frames and has knocked over the baby gate as a result of anxiety.   Once in his crate however, he has always behaved.   His potty training in the house is going fairly well.   He does not necessarily associate going outside with going to potty, so there will need to be some patience in that regards, however he is by no means a horrible case.

He loves to be near his person and loves to sleep in the big bed.   He is super sweet and super affectionate and will make someone a really awesome companion! Could you be that lucky person?

More about Stewart #2 in TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
