BIO:  Brodie is a nice older dog who was found as a stray and ended up in an animal shelter in Louisiana.  His coat was ragged and matted and his skin was very irritated, so he was shaved.  He is looking and feeling much better and will be a handsome long-haired fellow when it grows back.  He also lost several teeth when he had his dental cleaning.  Brodie has no problem eating dry food that has been softened with a little water.  Brodie has a moderate heart murmur, but does not need any medication for it.

Brodie is a quiet, gentle little fellow who likes to snooze quietly in his bed or in a lap.  He enjoys being outside, but does not like to go for walks.  He prefers to sniff around the yard a little and sun himself in the grass.

Brodie is friendly with people and other dogs.  He would probably be fine with cats too.  He is housebroken, but needs to go out a several times a day.  He will use a pee pad if he can't get outside.  When Brodie decides it is time for bed he just goes and gets in his bed.  He will sleep in a crate, but it isn't necessary.  He sleeps quietly all night.

Brodie just needs a loving home with good food, a soft bed, and a caring person or two to live out his life.   If you would like to provide this for sweet little Brodie, please fill out an application at allamericandachshundrescue.org.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
