BIO:  **Looking for an adopter with a fenced yard and a young dog for Spike to play with**

If we had to sum up Spike in one word it would be “playful”!  He’s happy, friendly, submissive and loves to play.  Do you have a dog that’s looking for someone to play with?  Well look no further, Spike is your guy!  We'll work on getting some better pictures for the web but in the meantime if you are interested, please email his foster dad.

Spike is your typical playful pup, he’ll even play by himself but he really would prefer you or another dog to play with.  Check out the video below of Spike playing with his foster brothers, Dash and Barney.  This little guy loves to play!  He also loves toys and will toss them up in the air.

We want Spike to have a fenced yard and another younger dog to play with.  Spike’s life was not so great before a Good Samaritan stepped in to help him.  You see, he and 4 other dogs were abandoned in a trailer in TN for some time.  They ended up eating their way through the dryer vent to get out.  One sadly did not make it but Spike did and we are so glad.  He is a Chiweenie and a happy one at that.  Adopt him and find out... he’ll make you laugh every day with the entertaining things he does.  Oh, and did we say he loves to get belly rubs?  As a matter of fact, we had a hard time getting pictures of him standing because every time we’d look at him, he’d lay down and give us his belly!

We want Spike to have a great home so he can put his past way behind him and forget what those awful people did.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
