Sonia says: “I really do want to have the love I do deserve but I am just scared right now of things, I will warm up to you and it won’t take me long. Once I realize who will take the best care of me trust me I won’t let anything happen to you. I have learned to play with my 4 legged brother and sister and what fun that is but still not sure about that squeaky thing even though my sister keeps showing me that they are fun. Please if you are looking for someone to love and don’t mind not moving fast around me then I am the one for you, I have a bunch of love to give.” Foster Mom says: “Sonia is such a love to have; before she came to me she was wandering the streets. There are a few things that we have been working on that she has shown great improvements in. She doesn’t like quick movements the only thing that she will do is run from you if you move too fast but she comes right back to you. I do have a feeling that she was not treated right by Men because she seems to be more fearful of them but she is starting to get closer to her Foster Dad but still most of the time she is at arm’s length. She does real well with the house training I have a dog door that she does use, once in awhile I have to remind her to go outside when I see her circling. I can go on and on about how wonderful she is, so please feel free to contact me about her and Please give her the home that she so greatly needs Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
