BIO: Susie came into the rescue on November 2nd from Kentucky. She was left at a shelter with her 6 five-week-old puppies. We were contacted and agreed to take them all into rescue and find them a wonderful home. Susie's puppies have been placed in another foster home and she is now living the quiet life in her foster home here in Vermont. She is such a sweet girl and just wants to be loved on. She is clearly mixed with beagle as her voice is VERY hound dog. It puts a smile on my face when she lets out a howl at something/everything in the yard. She is tall, as she has the beagle legs as well, so attention has to be made to leaving things too close to the edge of tables and counters. She does have the knack of being able to get a hold of things that she wants.
Susie would do well with another dog in the home or just by herself. She loves squeaky toys and to play tug-o'-war with her rope toy. She is on the submissive side. If she spends time in a crate or alone for a period of time, when you get home, just bring her outside to potty. Don't get her excited with cheerful hello's as she will tend to piddle on the floor. After she has been outside, she will be fine to play with inside and will run and jump around with joy to see you. Because of her being so young and full of energy, I would REALLY like to see her go to a home with a fully fenced yard so that she can get all the exercise she needs. She is trained to a doggie door and will go outside on her own when she needs to. No food or toy aggression has been seen while she has been here.
If you have any questions about Susie, please contact us at the foster's email address. We'd love to tell you all about her! Susie would love to have a Furever Home for the holidays!
