BIO: Trixie came from Northern AL with 2 other dachshunds when the owner decided to put them all up on Craig's List and give them away. A Good Samaritan stepped up and took all of them and turned them over to AADR. Trixie was so matted that she had to be shaved down to get all the mats out of her long hair... when it grows out she'll be beautiful!
Trixie is as sweet as they come! She will lick your face off! She loves to cuddle and desires to be in your lap. She gets along well with other dogs and would do well with a new pal. She is crate-trained and does well in there for a few hours or overnight. She is working on her potty habits; we have her on a strict schedule. Trixie loves to take walks and does very well on the leash. She does not like the sound of traffic and would prefer quiet streets or a park for walks. She has soft long hair... very nice to pet. She is completely vetted including a dental cleaning prior to coming to foster home.
If you are interested in Trixie, please fill out an application and feel free to email us if you have any further questions.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
