BIO (6/6/2018):  What can I say about Ralph?  Ralph has been the perfect first foster dog for us and I know within these first few short days, he is going to make someone incredibly happy!

Ralph came to AADR from a shelter in Alabama and had made the long trip to Upstate New York to find his forever home.

Ralph love, love, loves to nap.  Sometimes it will be with/on you, other times he is happy to relax on the couch and give you some time to watch that latest episode of your favorite show.  There is no such thing as too many cuddles and kisses to Ralph.  He loves affection and when you give it to him, he can’t help but dance around wagging his tail!

Ralph is extremely well house, leash and crate trained.  Every single night, if you give him the direction, he will get right into his crate and sleep throughout the night.  On the odd occasion, if he is a little lonely, he will whine a little before accepting that it is bed time, but he quickly falls asleep.

Ralph loves his walks!  His name should’ve been George because he is so curious and takes his time sniffing around, observing the world and all the people in it.  Really anything going on outside, he wants to be a part of.

Ralph is not a fussy eater.  He loves treats so much that even when sitting for you, he can’t help but do a little wiggle from all the excitement!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
