BIO (7/17/18)***Looking for a FLORIDA adopter for Sophie***

Hi folks!  My name is Sophie and I’m looking for a loving FL family to spoil me rotten!  I was dearly loved my previous family, but they died and then I was not cared for well at all until a Good Samaritan rescued me from an abandoned home and contacted AADR.  My foster mom assures me that I will soon be in the warm arms of a mom and dad who want a little princess to love.  That’s what I’m used to, don’t cha know?!?

Since I just arrived in Sarasota recently, my foster mom is still learning about my personality so she’ll have an update in another week or two.  I am getting along fine with the 5 other dogs in my foster home .... 4 females and 1 male.  At this house everyone gets up early at 5:30 a.m. ... REALLY?!?  I’d rather just keep sleeping in my bed a little longer!

I did have a full vet check and a complete dental when I got to AADR.  I lost two teeth so my foster mom is soaking my kibble in a little water to make it soft while my mouth heals.

Oh, I am very calm until you’re fixing dinner for the pack and then I’ll bark in hopes you’ll speed things up a little!  I am walking great on a leash with all the other dogs here, but I’d rather not have so many buddies.  I’m willing to share my cuteness with another pet in the household, but five, that’s a little much.  Foster mom doesn’t have enough hands to pet us all at once and I LOVE being petted!  I’ll nudge your hand over and over until you pet me!

Contact my foster mom (meg1709@comcast.net) for more info about my progress.  Thanks for wanting to adopt, not shop!!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
