BIO (8/10/2018):  My name is Opie and I am one sweet boy!  I came from KY where my owner had some medical problems and could not keep me. 

I love playing with my ball or other toys (just try to take them away from me!).  I haven’t played with my Foster Brothers or Sister but I do get along well with them.  When my Foster Parents are not home they keep me in their laundry room and I have never had an accident.  But, I am sure glad when they get home.  I am very little so you will have to make sure I cannot slip through the fence, and I am very fast.  I am an aggressive eater but in time I will know that you will feed me every day.  I love to snuggle and sleep in your lap.  And, as you can see, I am my Foster Mom's little office assistant!

If you are looking for a sweet and cuddly dog, I may just be what you are looking for.  Please fill out an application as having a furever home is what I dream about.   

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
