BIO (8/21/18):  Buster has a sad story of being found dumped in the woods in central Tennessee.  How anyone could have done that to this wonderful little boy is beyond us!  Was he a puppy mill dog?  Was he an unwanted pet?  We don't know.  Here is what we do know though:

1)  Buster is deaf.  This is a very common trait in double dapples.  His eyesight however seems very keen.  Since he is deaf, we are looking for a family that has had experience with deaf dogs.

2)  Buster has some significant separation anxiety that will need to be managed by a family that understands that too.

3)  Buster would be a great companion for someone who is home a lot and has another four-legged furbaby (male or female), or someone who is on the road a lot and is looking for a long-haul companion as he loves to lie next to his human.

4)  If you don't like the name Buster, you can easily change it as he won't mind because he doesn't really even know that his name is Buster...LOL!!!

All joking aside, Buster is an amazing dog that has so much love to give!  He adores being in your lap.  He has a ton of kisses he wants to give out for free!  He just wants to have a family that he can trust will be there for him forever and that he won't ever be moved to another stranger's home.

We would love to tell you more about Buster.  Submit an application for him and we will certainly be in touch to tell you all about him.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
