BIO (9/2/2018): This sweet old southern gentleman will make a great addition to any family! He has the sweetest personality, he only wants to please. He enjoys lazy afternoons in the shade having his belly rubbed. He also LOVES to ride - car, golf cart, stroller - it doesn't matter. If it has wheels, it's ok with Todd.
Todd came to rescue through no fault of his own. His older owners were unable to care for him and were forced to seek out help and of course, AADR said yes. Todd is very over weight and is currently on a diet with special food. He requires daily exercise and motivation. We are working hard to get his weight under control. The vet would like to see him lose 13 pounds which is no easy task for anyone but, especially for a dachshund.
Todd is a very special dog with so much love to give! Please feel free to contact his foster family, they would love to tell you all about him.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
