BIO (9/18/2018):  Hello my name is Tripp!  Thank you for taking a look at me!  I am a Schnauzer and I am 7 years old.  I am very friendly and like everyone, even children 6 years and up as long as they have been taught to respect me.  I love to be petted!  My foster home has a cat.  He's ok, I really don't care about him, although one day I decided to check him out.  Well, he put me in my place and that was that!  I like other dogs but I'm just not much of a player.  I like my alone time and I am very quiet.  If you'd be away from home for any length of time, another dog would be nice for the company.  I love doggie doors, but will go outside as long as there is some kind of schedule.  I do not like a crate and right now I am not in one long, if at all.

I want very much to find a quiet, warm, loving forever home, a place where I am just another family member and not just a dog.  At my other home, they moved a lot from place to place.  I was always in a crate with no time for me.  If you'd be interested in adopting me, please put in an application and my foster home would be more than happy to answer any question you may have!

Tripp came from a home in middle Tennessee when his owner could no longer care for him, he is a sweet, sweet boy and has much to give!

More about Tripp #2 in MD

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Leashtrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
