BIO (9/10/2018):  Jack…yes, that’s my name!  I was surrendered by a young couple expecting their 1st child this October.  I became very protective of my Mommy-to-be and didn’t like anyone around her.  I also became very protective of my toys and anything I was focused on.  They decided it best I go to a home that could give me the love and discipline I need to become the best family pet in the right home environment.

Wow!  Now I’m in my Foster Mommy’s home - such a difference... no Mommy-to-be to have to worry about and protect.  I have foster siblings and a fenced yard to play in.  I have a Foster Mommy who shows me special attention, lots of love and affection, but she can be firm with me to help guide me in understanding what is right and what is wrong.

I have no food aggression or submissive urination.  My Foster Mommy says I am 100% puppy.  I love to run and play all the time.  I have these spurts of energy in the evenings.  I need to run and jump and get this unwanted energy out of my system then I can relax and settle down for the evening.  I enjoy snuggling on my Foster Mommy’s lap with my siblings under the blanket.  I look forward to sleeping in the big bed at night.

AADR wants the BEST for me therefore, I need a home with another young dog and a strong pack leader.  I need a home with a fenced yard.  I need a Forever Home willing to teach me and take the time to help me develop my puppiness.  I need a family who will protect and care for me.  If you are looking for your Best Friend, open up your heart and home... I will love you Forever!

More about Jack in IL

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Cratetrained, Playful, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
