BIO (2/25/2019):  Sparky is looking for the perfect home that will provide him with tons of love and attention.  He is still very much a puppy and wants to eat, play, sleep, and repeat.  He gets along with other dogs very well (male and female).    

Sparky is one of the softest and most loving dogs we have had as a foster.  All he wants to do is make everyone around him happy with kisses, snuggles, and wagging tail!  When he is sitting in your lap while you scratch his back or belly, you can see the absolute joy on his face. 

Sparky comes in to rescue after being surrendered by his past owner.  We are led to believe that there was an issue with children in the house, therefore we will only adopt him to a family that has older respectful children over the age of 12.  We are also looking for a home that has another playful dog so that he can continue to have a friend to run around with and help burn off the puppy energy.  He also needs a fenced yard to help with this as well.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
