BIO (3/23/2019):  Sweet Buddy became homeless in Mississippi when first his dad and then his mom passed away.  No one in the family was able to keep him and they were unable to find anyone to take him.  They reached out to AADR and his sweet face won us over.

Buddy is a sturdy little fellow with a great personality!  He is in excellent health.  He was well loved and needs to lose about 4 pounds.  Buddy is very friendly and loves to meet new people.  He also gets along well with other dogs.  He has not been around cats, but can be introduced to some if needed.  He would be fine as an only dog.

Buddy is well housebroken.  He will whine and pester you when he needs to go out.  He will use a pee pad if left for extended periods, but definitely prefers to go outside.  Buddy sleeps quietly in a dog bed at night and would be very happy to sleep with his people.  He is a quiet dog and has only barked a few times with enthusiasm when his foster mom got home.

Buddy walks great on a leash and loves long strolls around the neighborhood.  His beagle nose enjoys checking things out.  He would be happiest with a fenced yard where he can patrol for squirrels.  Buddy also rides well in the car.

If you are looking for a friendly little walking partner, Buddy is the guy for you!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
