BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE INDIANA.....
DOVER came from a shelter in DOVER, TN where he was surrender along with his brother by their owners, don't know why but his brother found a home this little boy didn't so since they'd had him for several months they contracted us and ask us if we'd take him into our rescue to find this sweet boy a wonderful home that he so richly deserves. He is a sweet boy and loves to play with all the other young fosters here. He is fine with males and females and we are sure he'd be great with kids but not real sure about cats. Maybe would check them out at first but if the cat got on him he'd leave them alone. He does great in a crate and rides fine in a car. Not leash broken that we know of. Would be best with a fenced in yard and another small dog to play with. He loves to be a cuddle bug too. He's working on housetraining and with treats and praise will catch on very well. He is UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline and chipped. He wants to be in his new home for the Holidays so if you think you can give this boy a wonderful home please fill out that online app right away cause as sweet as this boy is and friendly he won't be in foster long before he'll be off to his new home, where ever that may be.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
