She came to us in an extremely emaciated (skin and bones - very pitiful) condition. She apparently had been homeless for quite a while and had been nursing pups so her body was in full overload to provide for the pups but not for herself. After some tender, loving, care and LOTS of food, Muffin has plumped up and has become quite the little sweetheart. She is so cute carrying around her stuffed animals. She lives to chew the squeakers out of chew toys, adores a good belly rub, is good at keeping your toes warm at night (loves to sleep under the covers with you), can carry on a conversation with you, chases her tail and she just can't get or give enough loving to you. She gives free licky kisses to children, adults and other dogs (don't know about cats). She's housebroken but needs reminders to go outside and is leash trained. Please consider giving her a forever home so she can love you forever!!! She is Spayed, UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and frontline. AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
